4 Day Ring Pop Quilt Class with Linda

Join us at The Quilted Cow - St. Peters for four (4) sessions from 10:30 – 3:30 as Linda Aldridge once again leads us through another pattern from Cape Mae’s Studio, a local designer.

The triangle in a Square (TriSq) unit is prominent and creates the illusion of curves with all straight seams. The Cape Mae method for creating this unit is key to creating precise units.

The pattern provides 5 colorways and Linda can assist you in creating your own. As written, the quilt is 60” x 78” with 1.5” border. This is a very confident beginner friendly FAST PACED class and with Linda’s direction, you will quickly be chain piecing your units.  There will be homework.

In our first class we will have a short discussion on fabric selection and placement. We will then allow time to shop for fabric with a 10% discount. While you may elect to supplement fabrics from home, the class fee is contingent upon purchasing the majority (or equivalent) of fabric from our shop.

Week 1 - Discuss/select fabrics. Walk thru the pattern and various colorways. Explore several methods of making HSTs and demonstrate making the Cape Mae TriSq. We will calculate the number of units based on the colorway chosen for each attendee. Homework is to complete the cutting for the 12 center blocks.

Week 2 – Continue creating units from class 1 as needed and assemble the 12 center blocks. Homework is to complete the 12 centers and the cutting for the quilt sashing.

Week 3 – Assemble the sashing units. Homework is to complete the sashing units.

Week 4 - Lay-out and assemble quilt. We will witness the beauty of everyone’s finished quilt top.

 

Supply list:

• Medium to large cutting mat for week 1 (some available in class)
• Rotary cutter with new blade, scissors
• Quilting rulers (6x24) and (3.5 SQ)
• Straight pins/binding clips of choice
• 12–15-quart size sandwich bags very helpful
• Sewing machine weeks 2-4 (some available in class – call in advance)
• Quilt sized batting/sheet/felt week 4
